Colorful White
Paper art installation, 2020
White is the color of jasmine flowers, but also the most inclusive which can absorb all colors. Chen Fenwan hopes to bring high concentration and cheerful color bloom in white space.
The work presents a miniature colored forest, where plants combine various totem elements that are the hallmark of the artist, flexibly grafting various scenes in the space. Tassels vegetation, colorful creatures, exotic objects and gift boxes grow as far as your eye can see, controlling your attention.
The palms have an uncontrollable growth rate, attached to the white wall to welcome. The soft vegetation is also in dialogue with the hard walls, blooming a new three-dimensional sense.
At one end of the half-arched passageway is a miniature colored forest, a pure white space behind the parade of welcoming palms.
Paper is endowed with unique vitality and characteristic advantages in the expression of this exotic forest. They absorb thousand of colors, embrace conceptual forms born out of imagination, and a myriad of materials. A sense of cyclical symmetry from nature is thus hidden.
As part of the colorful adventures, the Madeleine Pastries gift box is also covered in pink vegetation by Fenwan, paired with the same style of wild eye ornament, which is displayed in an exclusive window to make eye contact with customers and amuse themselves with curiosity.
The patterned cards inside the gift box are like a miniature draw, which are also paired with display stands and stickers for display and re-creation.
A jasmine flower grows out of the center of the eye-shaped piece and is integrated with colorful tassels that echo the forest. The mirror paper of the eye, on the other hand, reflects what it is looking at.
Paper is just like the crops of natural growth, in the spread of divergent lines, leaving a mottled swaying blank. They make the original space more interesting and uncertain. Paper art is a natural crop with humanistic trail, and derived from imagination.
Our perception of nature and life is recorded in these wandering lines, giving birth to colors.
