Dance Freely Within the Rhythm of Everyday Life🪩

I love wandering through the city at its finest scale. Every day, I take one of the forty cameras I've gradually collected and head out for a walk.

To me, this is a deliberate way of training my imagination.

Over the years, I've also kept various personal observation lists. One of them shares the same title as this work: Daily Disco.

I use it to document unexpected moments I encounter on the street. Every photograph is given its own title, almost like writing a story from a picture.

I've kept this habit for eight years, and it has become part of my daily life.

Each time I take a photograph and name it, I experience a small rush of joy—as if I'm dancing wholeheartedly in the brief intervals of ordinary life.

Perhaps it comes from the attention and awareness that walking invites.

This work is an extension of that everyday practice.

Chengdu is one of my favorite cities—I like to call it my happy home in Southwest China.

I wandered through Luxelakes, Chunxi Road, People's Park, Yulin Road, Kuanzhai Alleys, and Pengzhen, photographing the everyday encounters that came my way. Later, I reorganized those scenes through the language of papercutting.

Fragments gathered from different places and moments are cut apart, rearranged, and collaged into a new landscape.

I hope viewers will recognize the familiarity of everyday life in the work, while also stepping into the little wonderland I wanted to create—a relaxed, joyful dance floor.

Within the rhythm of everyday life, I hope you'll dance freely too.
