The dragon, draped in iridescent scales,
conjures rain, vanishes at will.
This unmeasured creature symbolizes infinity,
a vessel of imagination threading timeless narratives,
embodying unbound grace.
A glow suffused with brilliance, auspicious light ascends.
Colors and light dance across swirling patterns,
circles within circles, scales alive with rhythm,
resonating the eternal question in layered echoes.
This is yet another remarkable creation by Chen in the Year of the Dragon, 2024! Unlike her previously unveiled collaborations, this brand-new work takes the form of an 11-meter-long spatial installation, showcased at the Longtang Poetry Society in XINTIANDI, Foshan — a venue that has also hosted her works Phoenix and Fly.
The English word "Loong," phonetically similar to the Chinese word for dragon (龙), inspires the title Loooooooooong. The name features ten "o"s, visually echoing the form of the work itself: a dragon's body composed of five sets of circular paper-cut patterns, each distinct in design and contrasting in color, weaving endlessly in a continuous loop.
Due to the narrow, linear viewing path from left to right within the Longtang Poetry Club, visitors will have the opportunity to observe every detail of the work up close from a direct perspective.

The dragon's head still draws inspiration from Infinite, now infused with more vibrant, high-saturation colors and circular motifs that echo the patterns of the piece, aligning with the festive spirit of the Lunar New Year. Through the layered suspension of dispersed components and paper-cutting techniques that create a relief-like effect, the work comes to life with striking vitality.
The dragon's body is adorned with an intricate tapestry of paper-cutting details, where joyful figures, verdant plants, and vibrant koi are delicately cut and arranged in symmetrical compositions. Hollowed-out wishes echo harmoniously, creating a balanced visual narrative. Reminiscent of the original work Infinite and its endless nodal structure, the dragon's form crafts an unbroken circular pattern through a multitude of interconnected circular motifs, suggesting perpetual motion and continuity.
