Fenwan frequently incorporates the iPad into her creative practice. Her papercutting works encompass both traditional hand-cut pieces created through the direct movement of the blade, and what she calls “iPad Papercutting”—works drawn digitally on the iPad and then realized through CNC cutting technology.

In her collaboration with Apple, Fenwan regards the iPad as the “paper” of the digital age, while the Apple Pencil becomes the “scissors” of a new era. Traditional papercutting carries seasonal blessings and cultural wishes, while digital papercutting opens up a space for imagination between the physical and the virtual, inheritance and innovation.

She has always been drawn to the quality of symmetry in papercutting. For Fenwan, symmetry is not merely a visual balance, but also embodies an Eastern philosophical understanding of auspiciousness, harmony, and the cyclical flow of time. By bringing together traditional culture, contemporary creativity, and the aesthetics of symmetry, she takes the horse’s vitality and dynamic spirit as the core inspiration, reinterpreting the zodiac horse through vivid gradients of pink, red, orange, and yellow.
