Pink has been given too much meaning by people.
This is a story that Fenwan tells in the name of pink,
but this color was not her original decision.
"When I was young, I didn't like pink. I couldn't give a reason but I always resisted. Perhaps it is because I had a vague feeling that it was a color forced on girls. It hides an expectation, a demand on a girl. I kept feeling until I graduated from university. In 2016, the third year I worked as an independent artist, I made a work about human face. I extracted colors from many photos of people’s faces as the color of paper, but finally I found that pink is the color of Oriental skin, which is a color we cannot refuse and cannot escape. I began to pay attention to it, began to use it vindictively, began to think about what the aesthetic of the past had brought me. The new way of viewing gives me new options. I don't want to criticize anything at the moment. I just hollowed out an organ with pink paper and re-deconstructed this color that has been given too much meaning by people.
Pink can be diverse, this is a kind of Chen Fenwan. Just as women can boldly pick up their borders and cut them, stretching and burning through intimate relationships.
Pink Skin is inspired by the female body. It is a bold expression in the form of paper cutting. It is about the compatibility and conflict between the sexes, but the context is soft. It may be a tribute to the efforts of people for a long time, and an exploration of moving forward.
"Thank you for the liberation" is one of the most impressive sentence that her fans have said in the past. Similar to the impression given by Fenwan’s various pink works, she has a kind of unrestrained imagination. Color was an opportunity for her to think more and more about definitions, about her body.
A Story of Pink
Livary Mio is a lingerie brand that encourages women to be self-conscious. Paper art and sexy underwear may become an unexpected combination. But the hollowed out characteristics of paper cutting, and lace patterns actually happen to coincide. In artist's eyes, pink is full of topic, with enough power to provoke the senses. It is red diluted by white, warm and gentle.
When pink and paper-cut are attached to the sexy underwear, it can be different from the tradition, and convey a more ambiguous sense of interest, encouraging women to feel free and their own sexy.
